Gus 101

The first minute of this clip is some older Gus footage we found. It's kind of remarkable to see what he looked like at two days old and to see how much he's grown in only three months. After that is some recent footage, with a little smiling and a little cooing, though we still haven't managed to capture a full-on conversation with Gus, with all his great grins.

Animal Noises

This is also a little old (note jasper's close-cropped hair) but entertaining, if you can stand the sight of ABC grapes (that's 'already been chewed') and cinema-verite camera work.

From the mouths of babes

Funny things recently...

From Jasper:
--while carrying his etch-a-sketch-style drawing board across the room so he could demand we draw him a doggy: (spoken in a straining/grunting voice) "heavy heavy heavy!"
--He got in the car yesterday afternoon and saw a milk bottle lying there from the morning and reached for it. Adam told him to wait til we got home and he could have some fresh milk instead. We walked in the door and Jasper starts chanting "Fresh milk! Fresh milk!"
--When you say any one of a couple dozen animal noises, e.g. "Quack", he responds "A duck say!"
--He has a storybook in which a kitten knocks down a flowerpot and says "Oh no, meow! What will mama cat say?" So last night he started throwing handfuls of dirt from our flowerpot onto the living room floor, and when we stopped him he grinned and said "Oh no, meow!"
--Sarah used to say to him "I love you, yes I do!" Now, occasionally when she says to him "I love you," he responds, "Yes you do!"
--When he wants to be held: "Pickups! Pickups! Pickups!"

And from Gus:
--big smiles, now often initiated by him
--he's progressed from little chuckles to something that sounds much more like a real laugh, a giggle.
--He'll have a whole conversation where he coos at you and you coo back.
--if you blow a raspberry on his tummy, he either laughs, looks confused, or bursts into tears.
