Where Jasper Go?

Jasper is talking so much these days, and it's so cute, we almost wish we could videotape him constantly. Today while on the changing table, Jasper wanted Adam to pay attention to him. So he pulled the curtain over his face, and attempted to initiate a game of peekaboo by saying "Where Jasper go?" (This, of course, is usually our line!)

Yesterday we went out to the aquarium, and then afterwards out to dinner. Jasper had a fantastic time, and had his first taste of chocolate mousse. Not surprisingly, he learned the words "chocolate mousse" in about 15 seconds, and repeated them over and over again, grinning hugely at every bite. Finally he started shouting "Welcome!! Welcome!!"  My assumption is this was his attempt to say "Thank you" but he got the words mixed up. He was just so happy and he wanted us to know it.

The Sweetest Smile

We've been feeling guilty that we hadn't yet captured one of Gus's spectacularly sweet smiles on camera. But Adam finally got it! Enjoy! (And don't miss the "Straw..." video below - sooo funny!)

Jasper continues to expand his vocabulary, and although he won't say "I love you," he now responds when we say "I love you," with "Yes, you do!"

Straw...Strawberries...I'm a woman!

In this extremely brief video, you'll see Jasper's excellent verbal skills on display. First he says "straw." Then he says "strawberries," then "strawberries all gone.: Finally, he concludes with "I'm a woman". (Or perhaps, if you prefer, "I'm a real man"?)

Gus is Waking Up

Lots of new photos up in the April-June album, including many of Gus awake (and asleep). He still sleeps a ton, but when he's awake, he's often really awake, smiling all the time, grabbing things, and putting his hands in his mouth. Jasper is happy to say "Hi Gus" and no longer says "Baby Cry" every time he sees Gus!

Driving cars & Ring Around the Rosy

Doesn't everyone need a little ring around the rosy every once in a while? Another scene from the Miller Community Center series.

Playing with Kids

Jasper's favorite activity at his Nanny Share is "playing with kids"--going to the Miller Community Center and playing with the toys and kids there. This is one of a series of videos Adam's parents took when they joined him there one morning.

Learning to shoot hoops

More in the Miller Community Center series: Jasper learns to play basketball, and is surprisingly good at it, at least given his genetic heritage. On the other hand, Sarah WAS most improved basketball player in middle school--two years in a row.

"I draw a truck" and Kittyman grooms Gus

Jasper, who has been drawing for some time, for the first time drew a specific object - after he completed his masterpiece, he pointed at it and stated, "I draw a truck."

While some things Jasper says are crystal clear, he continues to frequently state, "A-She-Baa", or possibly "Ashiba," the meaning of which continues to elude us - it's been about 2 weeks now and he says it at least 10 times a day (with compelling urgency!) and we still haven't figured it out!

In other news, Gus got his first grooming from Kittyman - when I returned from changing Jasper's diaper, we found Kittyman thoroughly grooming the top of Gus's head - I had to grab a picture before shooing him away! For what it's worth, Gus didn't seem to mind at all.

Talkative boys

Life is still pretty exciting in our house these days - Jasper has been getting molars, so he's been having trouble getting a full night's sleep, and Gus is still figuring out how it works to sleep all night.

On the other hand, both our boys are talking more and more. Gus says "Gaaaa" and "oooog".  Jasper is using complete sentences, like "Iris eat cheese", "I drink agua" and "The tea is hot". One of his new favorite words is "want" - as in, point at an item and say "want, want, want."
