Two weeks into this grand experiment in parenting two children at once, it's both easier and more difficult than we had anticipated. Easier in that Jasper is taking the new addition in stride, Gus himself is just an easy going little guy who spends much of the day sleeping; and when he's awake, he mostly likes to just look around quietly.
The hard part is really the sleep deprivation. We'd somehow forgotten how much more difficult everything in life is when you are sleep deprived. Gus is not a bad sleeper, but I'd forgotten that for the first 6 weeks, they don't really get the whole 'day-night' thing, and, to make matters worse, every time he eats at night, he poops, then you have to change him, then he wakes up, then you have to feed him again to put him back to sleep, but that makes him poop again, and so the whole vicious cycle repeats. By the time we've gone through this once or twice, he's often thoroughly awake, and it takes an hour or more for him to go back to sleep.
We just put up some new photos, including a couple of Jasper and Gus together. Enjoy!
